Anthony Davis only wishes the month of February was longer.
The New Orleans Pelicans big man finished with a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs, securing his place alongside Moses Malone as the only players to average at least 35 and 10 in a single calendar month in the last 40 seasons (with a minimum of 10 games played).
Davis finishes the month of February averaging 35.9 points on 50.9 percent shooting (34.2 percent from deep), 12.8 rebounds, and 2.6 steals. The 24-year-old shot 9-of-19 from the field against San Antonio, also contributing with two steals and an assist in 37 minutes.
With the win, the Pelicans now sit just a half-game behind the Spurs for fourth in the Western Conference.
