Romero misses weight for UFC 221, not eligible to win interim title

We have some drama Down Under.

Yoel Romero missed weight for his interim title fight with Luke Rockhold, first coming in at 188.3 pounds before tipping the scales at 187.7 on his second attempt after a two-hour delay Friday.

The middleweight bout will still be contested Saturday at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia, but Romero won't be eligible to win the interim title, according to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.com. Rockhold can still earn the gold with a win.

The 40-year-old Romero took the fight on four weeks' notice.
