The New York Mets expect budding outfielder Michael Conforto to return to action May 1, general manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.
Conforto is still recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent in September after tearing the posterior capsule in his left shoulder during a swing.
Alderson disclosed the targeted return date after officially welcoming Jay Bruce back to the club during a press conference.
Before his injury, the 24-year-old Conforto appeared in 109 games, where he hit .279/.384/.555 with 27 home runs and 68 RBIs.
