Report: Spurs intend to open talks with Alli over improved deal soon
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly preparing to offer Dele Alli a contract worth significantly more than the £60,000-a-week pay packet he currently takes home.
Spurs intend to offer a new deal to the midfielder before the end of the season, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law, and are hoping that a weekly salary of around £100,000 will be enough to keep Real Madrid and Manchester City at bay - at least for a while.
Although there is no great rush, it's believed chairman Daniel Levy is keen to sign off on a new Alli contract before he joins Gareth Southgate's England squad at the 2018 World Cup. Tottenham has been accused of being frugal with wages in comparison to its Premier League rivals, but there now appears to be a push to tie down some of its more gifted players as it nears a move to the new White Hart Lane.
That means attempts to rubber-stamp longer paperwork for Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld are likely to occur, but one player who could be lost in the flurry of HR handiwork could be Danny Rose. The Yorkshireman expressed a desire to return north last summer, and also controversially said Spurs only signed "players you have to Google." Manchester United has been linked with the left-back, and would presumably offer an increase in compensation.
Following Sunday's 3-0 FA Cup defeat of AFC Wimbledon, Tottenham returns to Premier League commitments with a visit from Everton on Saturday.
