The New York Yankees aren't giving up on their pursuit of adding another superstar to their lineup.

New York continued to call the Baltimore Orioles this week about a potential trade involving third baseman Manny Machado, sources told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Even though industry sources told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Wednesday the expectation is for Machado to begin the year with Baltimore, the Yankees appear to have the organizational depth required to land the three-time All-Star.

The Orioles seem interested in acquiring two young, controllable starters in any deal for Machado, but haven't received an offer meeting their liking just yet.

Heyman's list of excellent Yankees prospects in which the Orioles may be interested includes pitchers Justus Sheffield and Chance Adams, as well as outfielder Clint Frazier and third baseman Miguel Andujar.

Word out of New York is the Yankees believe they can sign Machado long-term, reports Heyman.

Machado is in the last year of his contract before he becomes a free agent. Since a report surfaced claiming the Orioles were shopping the 25-year-old, they've received interest from the Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, and both teams from Chicago.

In six big-league seasons, Machado owns a .279/.329/.476 slash line with 138 home runs, 176 doubles, and 406 RBIs.

The Yankees already traded for reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton near the beginning of December.
