Competition committee to consider more video review at end of games
The NBA competition committee will look into potential solutions with respect to the controversial finish between the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
It will look to expand the parameters of what plays can be reviewed when the committee meets in March, a league spokesman told ESPN's Royce Young. Implementing a coach's challenge system is one possibility, the spokesperson said.
This comes in response to a rather obvious missed call in Friday's game. The league acknowledged in its Last Two Minute Report that a mistake was made when officials failed to spot Giannis Antetokounmpo stepping out of bounds shortly before he converted the game-winning dunk.
It was an obvious infraction that would have been spotted had there been an opportunity for inspection on video review. However, since there was no whistle on the play, it was ineligible for review. Milwaukee subsequently walked away with the controversial victory.
Any potential changes would not take effect until at least the 2018-19 season.
