Report: Schoop among 3 Orioles considered untouchable in trades
The Baltimore Orioles are entertaining offers for some of the club's biggest stars, though vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette has set some limits.
Second baseman Jonathan Schoop, outfielder Trey Mancini, and reliever Mychal Givens are all believed to be untouchable, one rival executive told Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.
Duquette has spent the last week fielding offers for a number of his core players, including impending free agents Manny Machado, Zach Britton, and Brad Brach. Adam Jones is another player in the final year of his deal, but the outfielder possesses a full no-trade clause due to his 10-and-5 rights.
The Orioles began having preliminary extension talks with Schoop last month, though nothing was close to being solidified at the time. The 26-year-old has two more years of arbitration eligibility before he hits free agency. Mancini just wrapped up his rookie season and is under team control through 2022, while Givens has four more years of control.
