Manchester City's Silva declared fit ahead of United clash
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed Friday that David Silva is "going to play" against Manchester United
The Spanish midfielder looked as if he would be a doubt for Sunday's encounter after he wasn't included in City's team ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.
United manager Jose Mouriho accused his counterpart of using mind games after learning that Silva was doubtful for the season's first Manchester derby.
Speaking with reporters Friday, Guardiola insisted Silva's availability was a legitimate concern raised by the team's doctor.
"He’s going to play," Guardiola said.
"The doctor told me in the beginning of the week there was a doubt about him playing but today he arrived and said he felt really good, so he’s going to play."
Guardiola also revealed that Vincent Kompany is in doubt after picking up a knock before Wednesday's match in Ukraine.
"He felt something and couldn’t play against Donetsk," he said. "I wanted him to play to get rhythm before Old Trafford.
"Tomorrow we will know if he can play."
City holds an eight-point edge over its city rival heading into the highly anticipated match.
