Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is eyeing a switch back to Spain due to a desire to be closer to his two children in Madrid, and could reject a new deal with the Blues even if the club meets his wage demands, reports Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard.

"Everybody knows that due to my personal situation, Spain attracts me," Courtois admitted to Spanish radio station LaSexta, as quoted by the Evening Standard. "If it is not now, it will be in some years."

Courtois had reportedly asked Chelsea to double his £100,000-a-week wages during talks held earlier in the year, and rejected an initial offer at a lower number back in May. Holyman reports that Real Madrid is a "huge admirer" of Courtois, while Atletico Madrid could also make a move to bring him back.

The 25-year-old Belgium international joined Chelsea out of Genk in the summer of 2011 but was soon loaned out to Atletico. He quickly established himself as the first-choice 'keeper, spending the next three seasons in Madrid before returning to Chelsea for the 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

During his time with Atletico, Courtois won four titles, including La Liga and the Europa League. His current contract with Chelsea is set to expire in 18 months and Blues manager Antonio Conte said earlier in the week he hopes Courtois opts to remain at Stamford Bridge.

"Thibaut is one of the best goalkeepers in the world," Conte said. "Maybe the best now. ... It is normal during the season to have the contact between the player - or the agent of the player - and the club. I hope that at the end, Thibaut will sign his contract."
