Blue Jays to honor Halladay before 2018 home opener

The Toronto Blue Jays will pay tribute to late pitcher Roy Halladay during a pregame ceremony ahead of their March 29 home opener, the club announced Wednesday.

Halladay died Nov. 7 when he crashed his private plane into the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40.

The winner of the 2003 American League Cy Young Award and 2010 National League Cy Young Award spent the first 12 years of his career with the Blue Jays, amassing a record 148 wins and 76 losses alongside a 3.43 ERA. He threw a perfect game and a postseason no-hitter in 2010 as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Blue Jays added that more plans to honor Halladay will be announced in the next few months. Toronto hosts the New York Yankees to open its season.
