Already staring at an ongoing nine-game losing streak, the Clippers' straights have become decidedly more dire.

Starting point guard Patrick Beverley reportedly underwent surgery on his right knee Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and the timeline for his recovery is currently unknown.

After being traded from the Houston Rockets as part of the Chris Paul blockbuster deal this summer, Beverley has had an up-and-down season so far, mirroring the team's own highs and extreme lows.

Though the scrappy guard is currently averaging a career-high 12.2 points per game, with 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals, Beverley has already missed five games due to his sore right knee. When Beverley has been able to start, the Clippers are merely 5-6, but they've suffered losses in all five of the games he's missed to date.

The advanced metrics back up Beverley's importance to the team as both a primary ball-handler and the Clippers' best on-ball defender. When Beverley's on the court, the Clippers have a positive net rating of 4.5 points per 100 possessions, per NBA.com; with Beverley on the bench - or out of the game entirely - the Clippers have been outscored by 6.2 points per 100 possessions.
