Heynckes confirms Bayern talks to re-sign Wagner

The Polish marksman has been outspoken about Bayern Munich's need to add to its striking contingent, but expressed reservations over how difficult it could be for the Bundesliga champion to find adequate backup.
However, it seems that elusive player has been identified in Hoffenheim's Sandro Wagner.
"Hasan Salihamidzic and Alexander Rosen are in contact to see if there is a possibility of a transfer," Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes said of negotiations between the club's respective sporting directors, according to ESPN FC's Mark Lovell.
Heynckes' understanding of the situation corroborates his Hoffenheim counterpart Julian Nagelsmann's belief that the German international Wagner is nearing a return to the club he left in 2008. The 29-year-old is a late bloomer, making his international bow only last year. In the 2017-18 term, Wagner boasts four goals and two assists in nine league appearances.
Heynckes added: "We are in this phase and no further - it's too early to say anymore.
"Such transfers are normally extremely difficult in winter. We have to see if it's possible and under what conditions."
Bayern Munich welcomes Augsburg to the Allianz Arena on Saturday, and holds a four-point buffer over second-placed RB Leipzig.
