In what is essentially a two-horse race between Chris Sale and Corey Kluber, the American League Cy Young award should be as close as, well, last year's, with a pair of deserving candidates.

Kluber led the 102-win Cleveland Indians, who boasted an historically-great pitching staff, to their second-consecutive division title. The 31-year-old right-hander was even more dominant than last year - when he may have deserved the Cy Young as well - posting a 2.25 ERA and 2.50 FIP over 29 starts.

Meanwhile, Sale put together his own historically-dominant season, posting the best single-season strikeout rate since Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez. His 2.90 ERA and 2.45 FIP were sparkling as well in his first season with the Boston Red Sox.

Finally, Luis Severino bloomed into an ace for the New York Yankees. Over 31 starts, the 23-year-old crafted a 2.98 ERA and 3.07 FIP.
