Alabama allows 3 rushing TDs for 1st time in Saban era

Matt Bush / USA TODAY Sports

Alabama surrendered three rushing touchdowns in a single game Saturday for the first time since Nick Saban was named head coach ahead of the 2007 season.

The Crimson Tide gave up a pair of scores on the ground to Mississippi State running back Aeris Williams and one to quarterback Nick Fitzgerald - all before the end of the third quarter.

Saban's defense has faced a rash of injuries at the linebacker position, severely weakening its ability to contain the run versus the Bulldogs.

Alabama had last allowed three rushing touchdowns in the Independence Bowl versus Oklahoma State at the end of the 2006 season.
