The Philadelphia Phillies organization is indescribably saddened by the death of former starting pitcher Roy Halladay, who died in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday.

After 12 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, Halladay - or "Doc," as he was known throughout his 16-year career - pitched his final four seasons with the Phillies from 2010-14.

In his first season in Philadelphia, Halladay tossed the 20th perfect game in major-league history on May 29, 2010 against the Florida Marlins. Later that year, in his first-ever playoff start, Halladay pitched a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. It remains one of only two no-hitters ever thrown in the postseason.
