Purdue received terrible news Monday regarding its starting quarterback, as head coach Jeff Brohm announced that David Blough will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a dislocated ankle, according to Mike Carmin of The Journal & Courier.

Brohm added Blough is likely to need a six-month recovery period and is expected to miss the Boilermakers' spring schedule as a result.

The junior suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 29-10 win over Illinois and needed to be carted off the field. Backup Elijah Sindelar replaced Blough, completing his two attempted passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Before the injury, Blough had improved his effectiveness as a passer this season, completing 65 percent of his throws with just four interceptions compared to 57.1 percent and 21 interceptions a year ago.
