Report: Eagles not among teams pursuing Calvin Johnson
Multiple teams may be interested in the services of Calvin Johnson, but it seems the Philadelphia Eagles are not one of them.
Steven Albritton of KMBC in Kansas City reported Sunday that the Eagles were "aggressively pursuing" acquiring Johnson's rights from the Detroit Lions, but a source with knowledge of the situation later told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that the report is false.
Multiple teams have contacted the Lions regarding the services of the six-time Pro Bowl wideout, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Lions have apparently instructed those teams to get in touch with Johnson to discuss whether he has any interest in coming out of retirement.
If a franchise is able to convince Johnson to return, his base salary of $16 million from 2016 would be reinstated prior to the Lions' decision to retain, trade, or release him, according to Florio.
