Marco Silva tells Deeney to focus on Watford after Arsenal jabs

Watford manager Marco Silva isn't pleased with the conduct of his striker, Troy Deeney, who was vocal in his criticism of Arsenal following a 2-1 win over the Gunners at Vicarage Road last Saturday.

Deeney said Arsene Wenger's players lacked "cojones," pointing out that none of Arsenal's defenders adequately challenged him in the match. He also poked fun at Hector Bellerin's hair when discussing the penalty that brought Watford level, ahead of a last-gasp winner by Tom Cleverley.

Deeney joked of Bellerin: "He had his long hair in the way, he can't see what he's doing."

His comments drew the ire of the Gunners faithful, and Watford boss Marco Silva issued a warning to his striker to focus only on the work of himself and his team moving forward.

"Troy Deeney knows my opinion on this," Silva said, according to Samuel Lovett of the Independent. "My opinion will stay between me and him.

"I spoke to him about everything. We will see in the next match and we will see what happens.

"About what was said, I spoke with him and it is finished. It is important for us and a club, for our players to speak about our work and what we do as a team.

"For my players, we must look inside and not outside and respect ourselves, as well.

"That moment, Troy gave his opinion, but it is finished now."
