Tony Allen, now a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, had just received the news that the Memphis Grizzlies promised to retire his jersey one day, and that's when the news cameras caught him.

Naturally, Allen was rather emotional as he shared his gratitude toward the Grizzlies organization.

"I was never doing it for no notoriety. I was never trying to be in your paper, your latest magazine. I was doing it just playing hard, playing the right way, trying to win, never cared about the fanciness, the All-Star games," Allen said.

"All I wanted to just be known for was to be one of the greatest defenders that ever played the game, and I just thank Memphis for allowing that opportunity."

Allen is a six-time NBA All-Defensive Team member, including three times on the first team.
