Twitter erupts as USMNT's World Cup dreams are crushed
The United States' men's national team lived through its worst nightmare Tuesday.
A loss to the already eliminated Trinidad & Tobago and a combination of unfavourable results elsewhere in the CONCACAF region kicked the Americans out of the World Cup and sparked outrage across the land.
Twitter ran the gamut of emotions as it tried to process what Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl called "the most surreal and embarrassing night in U.S. soccer history."

The #USMNT were eliminated by a last placed T&T "B" team. I don't want to hear anything about the results in the other games.

Saying it for YEARS, USMNT just isn't that good, majority of 'stars' play in the MLS. No rotation of new talent, same players getting capped

The stat
1986 - The United States has failed to qualify for the World Cup Finals for the first time since 1986. Outsiders.
