McCall announces he's a free agent after parting ways with UFC

Ian McCall has decided to cut his losses and move on.

The longtime flyweight announced he's been granted his release by the UFC during a Monday appearance on "The MMA Hour," thereby making him a free agent.

After a handful of attempts to return to action falling through over the past two-plus years, and recently voicing his reluctance to return under his existing deal, McCall asked the UFC to part ways.

The 33-year-old says he's fully recovered from some lingering health issues, following six visits to the hospital over the past year, and has set his sights on a six-figure payday, whether it's $100,000 flat or "50 (to show) and 50 (to win)."

The fighter, nicknamed "Uncle Creepy," hasn't seen the cage since falling to John Lineker via a unanimous decision at UFC 183 in January 2015. All six of the fights he's booked since have been scrapped - often in the 11th hour - for a variety of reasons. McCall was last set to face Jarred Brooks at UFC 208 in February, only to pull out with an illness after successfully making the flyweight limit a day prior to the event.

He hits the free agent market with UFC and professional records of 2-3-1 and 13-5-1, respectively.
