Watch: Stanton completely crushes HR No. 58

Jasen Vinlove / USA TODAY Sports

Giancarlo Stanton is now two swings from history.

The Miami Marlins slugger left no doubt about home run No. 58 Thursday night, absolutely demolishing Julio Teheran's offering some 422 feet over the wall at Marlins Park at an exit velocity of 109 mph. Stanton is now just two bombs shy of recording only the ninth 60-homer season in MLB history.

Stanton's 58 home runs are also the most in a single season since Ryan Howard crushed 58 himself for the Phillies in 2006.

The 27-year-old is now tied with Howard, Jimmie Foxx (1932 A's), Hank Greenberg (1938 Tigers), and Mark McGwire (1997 A's/Cardinals) for 10th on the single-season list.
