Deebo Samuel refutes initial injury report, vows to return in 5-6 weeks

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

South Carolina was hit with terrible news Saturday when head coach Will Muschamp announced that Deebo Samuel would miss the rest of the season due to a broken leg he suffered against Kentucky.

Hours later, though, it appears there's some hope for the Gamecocks after all. Samuel tweeted that his injury is actually a low ankle fracture and he'll be back in action in five-to-six weeks.

That would be great news for both Samuel and South Carolina, as the star wide receiver is the team's most dangerous offensive weapon. Through three games this season, the junior has two kick-return touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns, and a score on the ground.

Should Samuel be out for six weeks, he'd return for the Nov. 4 contest against Georgia.
