Prescott reveals he missed pre-draft meeting with Broncos

The recent history of the NFL could've been very different had Dak Prescott arrived on time for one of his flights.

Prescott's ascension to stardom was one of the most compelling stories of the 2016 season, as he took over for an injured Tony Romo as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback and never looked back en route to the Pro Bowl and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

In another life, Prescott's star campaign could have occurred with the Denver Broncos. However, the quarterback recently revealed that he missed a flight en route to a pre-draft dinner with the Broncos, which obviously soured the organization on him.

"I didn’t make it to the gate," Prescott said to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "The door shut and I had to wait. I got there later that night, but missed the initial dinner. I still had the visit, but I’m sure the quarterback not making the flight doesn't go over too well. When I got on the flight, I knew that was probably over with."

The fortunes of both the Broncos and Cowboys were certainly intertwined during the 2016 draft. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was fixated on selecting Paxton Lynch - whom the Broncos chose with the 26th overall pick - but eventually opted for Prescott in the fourth round.

In any event, the Broncos may be wondering what could've been Sunday, with the two teams scheduled to square off at Sports Authority Field.
