Report: Faria vs. Borella rounds out UFC 216 card
Kalindra Faria's UFC debut is indeed a go.
After being briefly attached to a date with Andrea Lee at UFC 216, the flyweight is now set to make her first walk to the Octagon in a meeting with fellow newcomer Mara Romero Borella on Saturday's card in Las Vegas, sources told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz and Ariel Helwani.
Faria has won three straight and previously fought UFC strawweights Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Aguilar in KSW and World Series of Fighting, respectively. She last won a Titan FC title with a unanimous verdict over Carina Damm in September of last year, and makes her UFC debut with a record of 18-5-1.
Borella, 31, has won five straight dating back to late 2015, with her most recent outing ending in a split decision over UFC alum Milana Dudieva at Invicta FC 24 in July. She meets Faria with an 11-4 record.
UFC 216 will see Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee fight for the interim lightweight title in the main event at T-Mobile Arena, with flyweight Demetrious Johnson vying for a UFC record 11th title defense against Ray Borg in the co-headliner.
