Chargers' Williams ruled out for season opener vs. Broncos

Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Mike Williams has been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Williams was activated from the PUP list Sept. 2, but won't be able to participate in the season opener due to a back injury.

The activation from the PUP list allows Williams to return to play sometime in the first six weeks, and the Chargers reportedly expect him to be ready to play in October.
