Arrieta leaves game after pulling hamstring

Look away, Chicago Cubs fans.

Cubs starter Jake Arrieta left his start Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the third inning after appearing to injure his right hamstring.

After nearly plunking Josh Bell with a pitch high and inside, Arrieta looked to be in considerable discomfort on the mound. He was immediately attended to by skipper Joe Manager and a trainer, but after being unable to follow through on a warm-up pitch, Arrieta was removed from the game.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times' Gordon Wittenmyer, the Cubs later announced that their training staff was working on Arrieta's hamstring, though there was no confirmation on whether the ailment was more severe than a cramp.

Arrieta was replaced on the mound by Justin Grimm.
