Swansea City pulled off one of the signings of the summer transfer window.

On Thursday, the club signed Renato Sanches on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, as the Portuguese midfielder completed the necessary paperwork and will link up with the Swans upon returning from international duty.

Sanches, who joined Bayern from SL Benfica for £27.5 million in the aftermath of Euro 2016, worked under Paul Clement during the manager's six-month stint at the Allianz Arena.

"I'm delighted to secure his services," Clement said. "He is a player I know well having worked with him for six months at Bayern Munich before my own move to Swansea. Having moved from Benfica to Bayern Munich, he has not played as much as he would have liked. But this move to Swansea and the Premier League will provide him with a real positive development experience. As a player he is a dynamic, powerful central midfielder who I believe has all the attributes to suit the Premier League."

During his first season at Bayern, Sanches made 17 Bundesliga appearances but failed to score or tally an assist.
