Matt Carpenter pledges to donate $10K to Houston aid for every HR
Matt Carpenter hopes to let his bat help out those in his hometown state.
With much of Houston damaged and covered by flood waters due to Tropical Storm Harvey, the St. Louis Cardinals infielder, who was born in Galveston, Texas - approximately an hour's drive from Houston - announced Monday on Twitter that he plans to donate $10,000 for each home run he hits from now until the end of the campaign.
From now till the rest of the season we will donate 10,000 dollars for every Homerun I hit to help aid the relief efforts in Houston

Carpenter's contributions didn't go unnoticed by his team, either.
Because @UncleCharlie50 is a stud in every sense of the word..he has pledged to match the 10,000 for each Homerun I hit #prayingforHouston

Tropical Storm Harvey's devastation has been felt elsewhere in baseball circles, too. On Monday, the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros announced the two would play their mid-week series at Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, instead of the Astros' home turf of Minute Maid Park due to the natural disaster.
