Following criticism over Tottenham's lack of transfer activity this summer, the north London side has decided to go shopping.

Spurs hope to conclude negotiations next week with Celta Vigo for 20-year-old box-to-box midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop, according to Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas.

Chairman Daniel Levy has yet to spend a single cent on a signing during the summer, despite selling right-back Kyle Walker to Manchester City last month for a reported £50 million.

Walker's former teammate, Danny Rose, complained about his club's stinginess in a candid interview with The Sun and urged Levy to drop some cash in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Although Pape Chiekh, a Spanish Under-19 international, is hardly the big-name footballer Rose had demanded, he has apparently been scouted by Tottenham in the past.

Sky sources also indicate that Mauricio Pochettino's side is in the market for a new goalkeeper and right-back.

Everton's Ross Barkley, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Toffees, is another reported target, but his £50-million price tag has proved prohibitive thus far.
