Reddick: Astros' quiet trade deadline left players 'down in the dumps'

Another member of the Houston Astros is sounding off on the club's unexpectedly tranquil July.

Dallas Keuchel was the first Astros player to rip the front office for failing to add a star to the roster, calling the club's trade deadline a "disappointment." On Thursday, outfielder Josh Reddick doubled down on the organization, saying the entire roster was demoralized with the lack of new additions.

"Deep down everybody in that clubhouse knew we were going to make some move to turn us from a really great team to a team that would put us over the edge, especially with all the moves you saw around the league," Reddick said on MLB Network Radio. "It's nothing against our guys but any time you can make your team better you should have the opportunity to do that and take full advantage.

"I think deep down, we were all down in the dumps because we had a pretty good shot to help this team get over the hump to where we need to be. That time has passed and we can't dwell on that, we have all the confidence in everybody we have now, we just have to get out of this slump right now."

Reddick's comments are backed by the Astros' poor performance in August.

In its eight games since the July 31 deadline, Houston is now 2-6 and has lost series against the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox.
