Oakley accepts plea deal, barred from MSG for 1 year
Charles Oakley has been conditionally cleared of all charges stemming from his scuffle at Madison Square Garden in February, as reported by ESPN's Ian Begley.
The former NBA big man accepted a plea deal Friday that restricts him from entering MSG for one year.
"Like I said from day one, I wasn't wrong," Oakley told Begley.
Oakley was forcibly removed and charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault, two misdemeanors of harassment, and one criminal trespassing while sitting courtside at a New York Knicks game last season. The 53-year-old was handed an indefinite ban from MSG by team owner James Dolan, which was later rescinded.
"He will be pursuing all civil remedies against Mr. Dolan based on this incident," Oakley's attorney, Alex Spiro, told Begley.
Oakley said weeks after the incident that he was still seeking an apology from Dolan and the Knicks.
