Garcia scheduled to make start for Braves despite possible trade

The Atlanta Braves may be able to get one more start out of Jaime Garcia before he's shipped to the Minnesota Twins.

A trade of Garcia, who was reportedly on the move to the Twin Cities as of Thursday, was never finalized between the two clubs and when Atlanta released Friday's starting lineup, Garcia was scheduled to pitch.

The 31-year-old Garcia was reportedly being shipped to the Twins in exchange for a minor-league prospect, which prompted the Braves to have Aaron Blair ready to face the Los Angeles Dodgers just in case a trade occurred.

Even Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had a back-up plan in case the right-handed Blair pitched in place of the left-handed Garcia.

Garcia is in his first season with the Braves after being acquired in a December trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.

He's 3-7 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP during 17 starts.
