It seems the Boston Red Sox are putting more than one egg in their basket as they search for upgrades at third base.

Despite persistent rumors linking Todd Frazier to Boston, the club is scouting several infielders including Pittsburgh Pirates' David Freese and Josh Harrison, New York Mets' T.J. Rivera and Asdrubal Cabrera, San Francisco Giants' Eduardo Nunez, and Miami Marlins' Martin Prado, a source told Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.

Prado's name has floated around the Red Sox recently, and of all the players mentioned, Freese has the most experience at the hot corner, appearing in over 800 games there. Harrison and Nunez, meanwhile, have the ability to play multiple positions including the outfield and even second base.

Brock Holt started at third base on Sunday for Boston, and the team optioned Tzu-Wei Lin to Triple-A shortly after the game.
