Marlins president: We aren't talking about trading our young star players

The Miami Marlins may have ended the first half of their season on a high note with a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants, but most of the attention surrounding the franchise is on the potential sale of the team, as well as the possibility of many of the team's players being traded.

Rumors have arisen lately of a potential "fire sale" of Miami's current roster prior to the July 31 trade deadline, but not everyone on the roster is viewed as expendable, according to team president Michael Hill.

Hill listed Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, and J.T. Realmuto as players they have no intention of trading, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.

"We aren't talking about those guys," Hill explained.

The Marlins president went on to mention first baseman Justin Bour - who was reportedly linked to the New York Yankees - "goes into the same basket" as Yelich, Ozuna, and Realmuto, while right-hander Dan Straily isn't being shopped.

As for power-hitting outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, Hill told Heyman "we haven't put his name out there," despite an influx of rumors surrounding the 27-year-old.

The Marlins are, however, continuing to discuss relievers AJ Ramos and David Phelps with teams, while third baseman Martin Prado and veteran pitchers Edinson Volquez and Brad Ziegler appear to be available as well.

Miami sits third in the National League East at 41-46.
