Borja Baston, Swansea City's club-record £15.5-million signing, made a season-long loan move to Malaga on Tuesday, the Premier League club has confirmed.

In search of more minutes and a fresh start after failing to make an impact in England, the 24-year-old will have an opportunity to spearhead Malaga's attack.

The southern side needed a striker to replace Sandro Ramirez, who joined Everton on Monday after the Toffees activated the player's release clause.

Borja earned just four Premier League starts last season, as countryman Fernando Llorente and Icelandic international Gylfi Sigurdsson stood in his way.

Before his big-money move to the Premier League, Borja honed his game in Spain, scoring 18 goals with Eibar during the 2015-16 campaign.

He arrived in Wales last summer amid much fanfare, but an unfortunate thigh injury at the beginning of the season delayed his full debut and set him on a tough path back to first-team selection.
