Roma has reached a €16-million agreement with Feyenoord to sign right-back Rick Karsdorp, according to Sky Sport Italia's Fabrizio Romano.

The 22-year-old is expected to take his medicals Tuesday before completing his transfer.

Apparently unsatisfied with Bruno Peres’ performances in the position, the Giallorossi moved swiftly to bolster their defence.

Alessandro Florenzi has also deputised as a right-back, but given his versatility and desire to play attacking football, he could replace the recently sold Mohamed Salah on the right wing.

Karsdorp, who recently signed a contract extension with Feyenoord until June 2021, has yet to break into the Netherlands' national team. However, he started 29 matches as the Rotterdam outfit secured a first Eredivisie title in 18 years.

It's now likely Karsdorp will replace Peres as Roma's starting right-back. The Brazilian failed to live up to expectations after his own big-money transfer from Torino last summer.

Often uncomfortable in possession and unconvincing going forward last season, Peres eventually lost his place in the lineup to centre-back Antonio Rudiger.
