Lyon upbeat over move for Chelsea's Traore

Looking to bolster the attack in anticipation of Alexandre Lacazette's departure, Lyon is confident it will soon complete a move for Chelsea youngster Bertrand Traore.

Traore, 21, is one of more than 30 budding Blues who spent last season on loan, and the Burkina Faso international was a revelation at Ajax, bagging 13 goals in all comps.

While Chelsea appears to looking elsewhere to bring in a striker this summer, with Romelu Lukaku's name topping the list, Lyon is content to bring in Traore on a permanent move for a reported £16.6-million fee.

"We absolutely want to do the deal," Les Gones president Jean-Michel Aulas said, courtesy of the Evening Standard.

It's a move that would make sense for both sides.

Should Lacazette leave the club he joined as a 12-year-old in 2003, Bruno Genesio's lot will be left with only France youth international Maxwel Cornet and second striker Nabil Fekir fill the void up top. Traore can play both in the No. 9 role and on the right wing.

For Chelsea, Traore represents the latest prodigious talent deemed surplus to requirements by the parent club, making just four appearances since enlisting with the Premier League holder in 2013.
