Eagles' Peters seeks reworked contract, but won't hold out

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters is looking for some long-term security, saying Tuesday he wants a reworked contract with the team.

"I want to retire here. I don't want to go year to year," Peters said, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Peters wants to avoid being a potential cap casualty every year, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 35-year-old - who's contracted through the 2018 season - added that he won't hold out from camp in order to facilitate a new deal.

While Peters is still playing at a high level, it's unclear if the Eagles will give him the contract and assurances he desires. Philadelphia paid right tackle Lane Johnson far above the top market value for his position in 2016 because they eventually intend for him to slide over and replace Peters.

The Eagles would save $10.25 million toward the 2018 cap if they release Peters after this season.
