Wolfsburg declines buy option on Real Madrid's Mayoral

Wolfsburg

Borja Mayoral is on his way back to Real Madrid after Wolfsburg opted not to pick up the option to buy on the Spaniard's loan deal.

The Bundesliga side announced the decision with a statement on its website Monday, adding that the 20-year-old forward's spell with the Lower Saxons officially comes to an end June 30.

Mayoral made 19 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg, 16 of which came as a substitute as the Madrid-born striker scored two goals for the relegation-threatening Die Wolfe. Mayoral failed to play the entire 90 minutes in any of his appearances in Germany this season.

"Borja has always given everything and is passionate about VfL. We thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best," Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe said.
