Watch yourself, Nicholas.
Detroit Tigers third baseman Nicholas Castellanos almost took down the franchise due to his frustration Wednesday night. After singling in the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest, Castellanos was replaced by pinch-runner Andrew Romine - and he was not happy about the decision, leaving the field while visibly expressing his unhappiness.
But it only got worse. When Castellanos returned to the Tigers' dugout, he slammed his helmet against the bat rack in frustration, only to see the helmet then bounce off the rack and hit Miguel Cabrera in the face, brim first. Cabrera looked stunned and in a bit of pain, and was seen holding his face near his eye in the aftermath of the incident.
Castellanos quickly realized what happened and apologized to his teammate. Fortunately for the Tigers and Castellanos, Cabrera shook off the incident and was no worse for wear, finishing out the game at first base.
The 25-year-old Castellanos has had a rough go of it this season. He came into Wednesday's game hitting just .220/.303/.374 with five homers and 60 strikeouts, though he's been on a six-game hitting streak since May 31.
