Report: Pirates' Hurdle expected to sign extension this season

Aaron Doster / USA TODAY Sports

Despite being mired in last place in the wide-open NL Central, the Pittsburgh Pirates are reportedly planning to bring back their bench boss.

Clint Hurdle, the Pirates' manager since 2011, is expected to sign an extension before the end of this season, sources told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The Pirates are also planning to sign general manager Neal Huntington to an extension, Rosenthal adds.

Hurdle is in the final season of a three-year extension he signed with the Pirates in 2014. In seven campaigns with the club, he owns a 535-497 managerial record (.518 winning percentage). He also managed the Colorado Rockies for eight seasons from 2002-09, where he posted a record of 534-625.
