Manchester City confirms Enes Unal's sale to Villarreal

Enes Unal's brief spell at Manchester City is over following his reported £12-million transfer to Villarreal.

The agreement between the two clubs also reportedly includes a buy-back clause worth £17.5 million, according to Emre Sarigul of the Guardian.

After agreeing to personal terms with Villarreal, Unal, 20, put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Unal caught City's attention during his time with Bursaspor before joining the Premier League outfit in 2015 in a transfer that reportedly cost £2 million.

The Turkish striker failed to make an appearance in a City shirt outside of pre-season matches, spending most of his time on loan with Genk, NAC Breda and FC Twente.

Unal, who scored 19 goals and provided four assists with FC Twente, earned his first call-up to the Turkish national team earlier this year and won his first cap during a substitute appearance against Finland in March.
