Cavs set Finals record with 49 points in 1st quarter
The reigning champions really didn't want to get swept.
The Cleveland Cavaliers jumped all over the Golden State Warriors in a must-win scenario in Game 4 by dropping 49 points in the first quarter on Friday.
Cleveland made seven threes and shot 58 percent from the field, while forcing five turnovers out of a sloppy Warriors side that led to a plethora of easy transition opportunities. The Cavs also generated five extra possessions from offensive rebounds thanks to a resurgent showing from Tristan Thompson.
Also helping the cause was a questionable whistle, which saw Cleveland attempt 22 free throws in the quarter, of which they only converted 14. Otherwise, the deficit would be even more lopsided.
Kevin Love led all scorers with 14 points, while Kyrie Irving and LeBron James had 11 and eight points, respecively.
