One of the brightest prospects in English football for some time, Dominic Solanke, is apparently off to Merseyside.

The 19-year-old failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a new contract at Stamford Bridge, leaving Liverpool to steal in and agree terms with the teenage striker, reports the Press Association. Solanke's current deal in London lasts until the end of June.

Liverpool is believed to have beaten numerous Premier League clubs, young-talent scalper RB Leipzig, and Celtic to his signature.

The Reds will pay a fee decided by tribunal because Solanke was developed by Chelsea. They had to go through a similar process when snatching Danny Ings from Burnley, and were eventually ordered to pay up to £8 million for the Clarets' key role in the forward's formative years.

Jurgen Klopp's lot is expecting to part with around £3 million when Solanke's price is decided, and will pay him a wage in the region of £20,000 a week, according to The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe.

Liverpool's two-year transfer ban doesn't prevent it from nabbing Solanke as he's aged over 17 and is therefore eligible for a professional contract. It's understood the exciting marksman will begin life in the northwest with the Reds' Under-23 side.

Solanke is currently away with England at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea, and wanted to leave Chelsea over concerns about a lack of chances with the senior team. He spent the 2015-16 season on loan with affiliate club Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring seven and assisting once, and this term was an unused substitute for Chelsea in League Cup games against Bristol Rovers and West Ham United, along with a Premier League visit from Leicester City.
