Raphael Varane is planning on doing some recruiting while he's on international duty with France.

The Real Madrid defender was full of praise for Kylian Mbappe, as the teenage forward's breakout season helped lead AS Monaco to its first Ligue 1 title since 2000, as well as an appearance in the Champions League semi-final.

Mbappe's superb campaign triggered an avalanche of reports linking him with a move to Europe's biggest teams, with Real Madrid seemingly in pole position to sign the 18-year-old.

Ahead of France's World Cup qualifier against Sweden on June 9, Varane has offered to help his domestic club's pursuit by having a word with Mbappe.

"Mbappe is a very good youngster with a huge potential," Varane told Telefoot, as translated by ESPN FC. "It would be a pleasure to see him here. In addition to that he is French, so he would be welcome. We will surely get the chance to discuss this."

A report last week indicated that Monaco has already rejected a bid from the Spanish champion worth €120 million for Mbappe, who credited compatriot and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane with inspiring his love for the game.

Mbappe ended his season with 15 league goals to bring his total to 24 in all competitions.
