Saints' Kuhn: I've dreamed about blocking for someone like Peterson

John Kuhn is understandably excited about the idea of leading the way for an all-time great.

Asked Thursday about the opportunity to block for Adrian Peterson, who landed with the Saints as a free agent earlier this offseason, the veteran fullback seemed downright giddy.

"I've been dreaming about a day like this for a long time," Kuhn said, according to Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune.

While it's fair to wonder exactly how much Peterson has left to offer heading into his age 32 season, there's still potential for success. The longtime Minnesota Vikings star has always been an athletic freak.

Starting all 16 games the year prior to a 2016 season cut short by injuries, Peterson ran for a league-high 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Peterson and third-round rookie Alvin Kamara joining Mark Ingram behind Kuhn and a talented offensive line will give New Orleans the opportunity to improve upon its 16th-ranked standing in the run game last season.

That unit even approaching the level of those Peterson has led over his Hall of Fame career, working in tandem with a still-dominant passing game, would make the Saints offense borderline unstoppable.
