Reggie Bush wants to keep playing: 'I have a lot left to prove'

Reggie Bush isn't giving up on his NFL career despite the on-field struggles and injuries that have dominated his past three seasons.

The free-agent running back said Monday on NFL Network that he intends to suit up in 2017.

"That's my plan," Bush said, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "Going into Year 12, I still feel like I have a lot left to prove, a lot left to give this game before I'm done. I don't want to put a number on how many years I have left. I think once you get past Year 10, you just gotta take it one year at a time and go from there. I'm still excited, still looking forward to playing football again this season, still staying in shape, still working out. I plan to be somewhere in September."

After a 1,000-yard rushing season in 2013 with the Detroit Lions, Bush's production has fallen off a cliff. He had 550 total yards the following campaign with Detroit, appeared in just five games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2015 due to an ACL tear, and rushed for minus-three yards (yes, minus) with the Buffalo Bills this past season.

This offseason has not been kind to veteran running backs, with the likes of Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles taking relatively small deals well into free agency.

Bush said teams have been calling, but that he'll wait for the right landing spot.

"I've spoken to a few teams, yes," Bush said when asked if he's had any offers. "But I'm gonna be patient and make sure I make the right decision for me and for my family."
