Celtic became the first side to complete an unbeaten 38-game season in Scottish football by overcoming Hearts with a 2-0 win on Sunday.

The Bhoys secured their 48th league title back in March, but followed that with seven victories and two draws to confirm an invincible campaign.

Both Celtic and Old Firm foe Rangers went unbeaten over terms in the 19th century, but that was only in an 18-match format.

Through smart acquisitions and a trust of emerging talent at Celtic, manager Brendan Rodgers has overwhelmed rival Premiership clubs in his debut season in Scotland. Standout players include Scott Sinclair, who's fashioned 21 goals and seven assists in league play, and Moussa Dembele, the ex-Fulham youngster whose 17 strikes have reportedly attracted attention from Chelsea.

Second-placed Aberdeen finished the season some 30 points short of Celtic's standard, and Rangers fell 39 points behind Rodger's lot in third.

Celtic can pick up a domestic treble of the Premiership, League Cup, and Scottish Cup if it defeats Aberdeen in the latter's final at Hampden Park next Saturday.
