It's been over a year since Jason Day won a golf tournament, but that drought could end Sunday at the Byron Nelson, thanks to his play on Saturday.

The Aussie shot a 4-under-par 31 on the front side, then added four birdies and a bogey on the final nine, to card a 7-under-par 63.

"Everything was kind of clicking," Day told Peter Kostis of CBS Sports. "The biggest thing for me from rounds one and two to today, was the process going into the golf ball. The pre-shot routine was a lot smoother, it was a lot more deliberate."

The world No. 4 found 71 percent of the fairways and 83 percent of the greens in his third round. However, it was his putting that helped produce the low score, which was on displayed at the 17th with a 60-foot bomb.

"Halfway down that slope, I knew it was on a good line," the 29-year-old said. "It's really cool to hear the crowds roar like that again."

The last time Day won on tour came at last year's PLAYERS Championship, which was also the last time he carded a 63 in a round.

"This is a good step in the right direction. I just need to stay calm, because obviously there's one more round to go."
